As you may recall last year, Captain America was gunned down by a sniper after refusing to go along with the federal government's mandatory registration of all superheroes. Captain America wasn't about to give up his civil liberties and it cost him his life. Following his assassination, his indestructible red-white-and-blue shield was bequeathed to Stephen by Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada. Colbert assumes that he's the new Captain America (which he is in our world) but no, former sidekick Bucky Barnes has taken up the heroic mantle. Stephen is stunned, only to learn that he may hold a position even greater than Captain America in the Marvel world, President of the United States.
