The Daily Tube review
This is the most responded to video of all time on You Tube, a 40 second short short posted in November, 2006 by an auteur who calls himself MadV. The song is called Meo Blodnasir by Sigur Rios. His clever video also sparked a charity website called HandMessages.com. MadV's mask is a Guy Fawkes mask, popularized in the movie "V is for Vendetta." His identity remains unknown, though a video posted on his profile was described as "typically West Coast American" by witnesses who saw it before it was removed by the creator. He later said goodbye to YouTube and said he was leaving for a television production company thought to be eefoof.com, an early YouTube rival that pays its contributors. (It is now vume.com.)
