Nando Costa really impresses here with his direction of Modest Mouse's Whale Song.  A contraption to aid in artistic expression leads to a surreal, dreary, and ever-changing landscape, and unfortunately to self-destruction.  Even the scenes with the band playing is made alien and unnatural, which is a perfect added touch.
