Both Obama and McCain supported renewing the bill that continued the NSA warrantless wiretapping. Surprise of all surprises, it's been abused beyond belief. Senators Leahy, Specter and Rockefeller, however, don't go in for the spying on soldiers and reporters and have opened two separate Congressional inquiries detailing what calls are being monitored in the "war on terrorism." Turns out, NSA workers have been gathering around the squawk-box to listen in on soldiers having phone sex with partners back home. Invasion of freaky privacy? Yes. But hey, it gets lonely out in the desert and this country needs to support the troops, especially the ones supporting themselves.
