Sure, the NBA Finals went six games, but for all intents and purposes, the series changed in the second half of Game 1, when Paul Pierce crumpled to the floor with a sprained knee, had to be carried off the court, then returned only minutes later to lead the Celtics to a defining victory. In the process he outworked and outhustled Kobe Bryant, defined his team's toughness as his own and set a tone for the the rest of their season, doing it all on one knee, of course.
