Our Favorite Videos on Video Games

What's more popular on the internet than video games?  Okay, you've got sex, but then you're pretty much out of ammo.  From Halo to Mortal Kombat, from Tetris to Mario Kart, video games have given the internet so many LOLz it's impressive.  We went back in our archives to find our favorite video game videos, and after a lot of deliberation, here's a just few of the very greatest:

Mario Gets a DUI

(Thanks to Rema Rahman)

"You can't arrest me, officer. It's-a me! Mario!"

When Finishing Him is Not Enough

Wait, what if you combined sex and video games? Oh yea, that'd be pretty awkward.

Royksopp - Happy Up Here

(Thanks to Michael Reyes)

What if Space Invaders came to Earth? Rokysopp's got an answer with Happy Up Here, and the results aren't pretty.

Pac Man Tears Up France

Pac-Man's addiction to power pellets takes him to a French grocery store, a pool hall, and a golf course.

Marching Meets Gaming

Man, live action marching Pong is even sexier than the flute trick from band camp.

Japanese Game Show: Human Tetris

(Thanks to Rema Rahman)

It's nice to see that the spirit of the samurai warrior is still alive and kicking.

YouTube Awards Winner: The Original Human Tetris

Japanese game shows are nice, but this is the original, award-winning Human Tetris.

Warcraft Sequel Lets Gamers Play a Character Playing Warcraft

The Onion News Network reports on a sequel that is sure to revolutionize online gaming.

Why Every Guy Should Buy Their GF Wii Fit

This super-viral vid proves that videos games aren't just for guys.

Real Life Mario Kart

This man is living your childhood fantasy out right now. Don't be jealous, just be happy for him!

And that's our 10 most favoritest video games videos!  With the plethora of material out there, surely you have some pick of your own.  Leave us a message, and let us know which video game videos push your buttons (in a good way, of course).

Shoot The Messenger: How Politcal Mockery Is DONE!

One of the hottest viral videos on the charts right now is NOM's "Gathering Storm", which is a coalition joined together to deny same-sex marriage to gay couple across the United States.  To date, four states have changed their legislature to allow gay marriage, but only Vermont has done it through the legislature and not the bench.

We're sure you are aware of the hotly debated topic, but before anyone chooses a side, let's consider the message of NOM and their aim to NOM-NOM-NOM the rights away from gay couples who want to get married:

Ahhhh!  It's refreshing how ignorant this video is!  And now, the inevitable backlash of the liberal public begins.  It starts with a simple voice-over that replaces the word "gay" with "interracial" and leaves a swollen mark on the face of conservatives that believe marriage is only for a certain bracket of individuals:

Good comparison, right?  However, the amateur feel of that video will leave many dissatisfied.  Leave the real mockery to the professionals!  We've been thrilled with what ShootTheMessenger has come out with in the past, but this one really hits the repressed-sexuality-disguised-as-spirituality nail on the head:

How do you connect every frightening dispute between the right and the left with the concept of gay marriage?  Just ask Lizz Winstead, co-creator of The Daily Show and current de facto leader of the Shoot The Messenger movement!  This is a serious issue, folks.  As a tempest of rhetoric over the issue swirls, Winstead has provided a shot across the bow of the "traditional" marriage crowd who don't seem as concerned with the four out of ten couples who fail at marriage!

If you have any more to add to the ongoing debate over the idea of same-sex marriage, give us a holler!  Until next time, keep your guns close and your (heteroesexual) enemies even closer.

The Chauncey Bailey Project Wins Award for Investigative Journalism

Journalist Chauncey Bailey was murdered in August of 2007 and the resulting investigations surrounding the case have become the focus of many a journalist.  The Chauncey Bailey Project was formed as a collaborative effort to inject the media into investigating the case, and to uncover as much as possible about the case.  Recently, the project won an award for their efforts in revealing many previously unknown aspects of the case,  which has caused a feud between The Sanfranciso Chronicle and The Chauncey Bailey Project because of this video:

The video clearly shows key suspect Yusuf Bey IV talking about the details of the murder, and why certain things were done to keep the Your Black Muslim Bakery from being indicated.

Now, why the fued?  Apparently many publications have given credit to The Chauncey Bailey Project for uncovering the video, while the first reporting on the video seems to have been done by The San Francisco ChronicleNational Public Radio and The New York Times have both issued corrections in their statements regarding the credit for uncovering the video, while The Chauncey Bailey Project maintains they will only run a "clarification".

For the whole back-and-forth between paper editors, you can check out this Gawker article.  For more video and information from The Chauncey Bailey Project, check out their media section.

Oh Noes! Google Video is Gunna Die!

Oh NOOOO!!!!  Google video announced yesterday that it will stop allowing people to upload video to its laughably unpopular video service!  Where else are we going to get our dose of ridiculous documentaries on conspiracy theories and things otherwise hidden from the site of man?  A few of us are going to organize a going away party with screenings of the craziest of all Google Video has to offer.  But, before Google pulls the plug completely (you'll be able to view videos for a while, but they're discontinuing the uploads in "a few months"), we wanted to honor this repository of stange but interesting videos with a few of our favorites:

(editor's note: TheDailyTube does not subscribe to any of the political, historical, or social claims of the following videos, though we are very entertained :)

The original "Zeitgeist" is something that you need to see to believe. Not that it's all true, it's just that someone spent a LOT of time and money making these facts look believable. We're not judging the content, but it's far and away the most viewed documentary on Google Video.

"Guys and Dolls" is a documentary about men who have found a way to bypass nature's intentions and build themselves a doll that provides them with "love and companionship that real women cannot". Is this taylor-made for the internet or what?

This documentary from world-famed conspiracy theorist Michael Tsarion starts off with a beautiful "truther" rap and goes on to claim that not only are we all under the control of faceless enemies, that those same enemies are space aliens who genetically engineered humans to serve their dominant Atlantian race!

"Loose Change" rocked the world with supposed scientific evidence that 9/11 might have been an "inside job". Though largely ignored by mainstream media, the film has become a cult classic among those who desire more investigation into the dubious events of 9/11.

By far the most prolific conspiracy theorist on the internet, Alex Jones wants everyone to know what REALLY happened to JFK when he was assassinated. He claims it was connected to the Bush dynasty, but who knows? It's still a fascinating story, and even if it's fake, doesn't the narrator sound a bit like Michael Moore???

And there you have it.  The greatest use for Google Video has always been to find strange documentaries and films that are just crazy enough to get your attention, yet boring enough to put you to sleep if you haven't had enough beers to pass out.  Think you know something we don't?  Email us!  And tell us why Google Video should preserve this library of "alternative thinking" forever!

North Korea Missile Thing: Too Soon to Laugh?

Sunday's mess of missile jabbering has been dominating the internet since North Korea launched it's failed "satellite" missile around 11:30 in the morning.  And, of course, why not?  Crazy Kim Jong-Il is not someone you want with the ability to deliver a nuclear weapons payload from over seas.  For those who spent a nice Sunday BBQ-ing, as they should have, a good summary of the whole debacle can be seen at the New York Times.  Video responses have remained understandably restrained, with mostly just reports of what's going on.  But, two funny takes on the situation have been found:

Gawker ran this article to explain just how whacky North Korea is about reporting the failed launch to its own people. Seems that they told their people that they launched a satellite that would broadcast this "Ode to General Kim Il Sung" song across the whole world.

We dug up this little number for the Politics section which is basically Obama's immediate reaction to the situation in a high-pitched voice. For some reason, this is a little easier to watch than the real thing.

And basically the rest of the world is holding its breathe waiting for China's possible veto of a unified reaction.  We understand that this is a serious situation, but doesn't the internet have more snark than that?  If you've found anything to bring a light-hearted snicker to the situation, let us know!
